Like you can kill someone out on the road and somehow people still magically know that the only person it could have been is you. Some argue it is about rumors, but if no one sees you commit the crime or even sees you go out of or be near the place the crime was sommited then it makes no sense to have rumors about it.
It makws absolutely no sense for everyone to know you are a criminal if you have not been reported. I completely agree with what you said about the reputation system.
